LED Strips for Cove Lighting

Choose and position a strip for indirect light, with attention to reflections, corners and accessible power supplies.

Start with the surface

Cove lighting directs light onto a nearby surface. Paint finish, ledge position and viewing angle change the appearance. A glossy surface may reveal reflections that are less noticeable on a matt surface, so inspect a sample from normal seating and standing positions.

Choose the line of light

Compare COB for a continuous-looking source with regular strips for spaced emitters. Do not assume a diffuser removes all visible points. Check a real section at the proposed distance before fixing the profile.

Work through corners

Plan every corner and join before calculating the order. Do not fold a strip sharply or cut it outside the manufacturer’s permitted locations. The Freecut family has a different cutting proposition from regular cut-point strips; confirm the exact supplied specification.

Make maintenance practical

Leave access to drivers and joins, and agree the mounting arrangement with the installer. Match voltage and controls to the strip. Longer purchases need a run plan as well as a length selection in the configurator.
