12V vs 24V LED Strips
Match strip voltage to the complete system and understand why voltage alone does not determine brightness.
Configure your LED strip →Match the components
Select a power supply whose output voltage matches the strip specification. A 12 V strip and a 24 V strip are different selections, not interchangeable labels. Controllers and other accessories must also support the chosen voltage and load.
Compare current at the same power
Current equals power divided by voltage. For a 60 W load, that is 5 A at 12 V or 2.5 A at 24 V. This comparison does not mean a 24 V strip is automatically brighter, more efficient or suitable for any run length.
Run length needs a wiring plan
Voltage drop depends on the conductor, length and current. Choose cable sizes, feed points and protection with the installer using the actual equipment specifications. Selecting 24 V does not override our configurator’s separate calculation for each 5 m run.
Use the configurator
Changing voltage updates the displayed current requirement while preserving the family’s wattage calculation. Compare that result with the chosen driver’s datasheet. Check dimming compatibility and installation conditions before purchasing accessories.
